. public works crews will remove them and store them at a yard until february 15th. >>> the east bay spca and the east bay regional parks teamed up with the coast guard this morning to issue a warning for people who take their dogs to the beach. they strongly advise pet owners not to jump in and try to save their dogs if they get swept out into the water. at least seven people have died in the past four years along northern california beaches trying to do just that. the spca says dogs are often better swimmers than people and many times the dogs make it back to shore while their owners don't. they also warn dog owners not to throw toys into the waves for their pets to chase. conditions in santa clara county's foster center receiving center are being called woefully inadequate. the juvenile justice commission wants the street located immediately. they recently moved into the basement of a downtown medical building on east santa clara street. but a report by the justice commission says the rooms are uninviting and inspectors found abandoned medical equipment and glass outside of the buildin
with the coast guard and the spca today who issued their own warning about what to do if your pet gets caught in the water. >> reporter: throwing the ball into the breakers is a popular pats time. when susan takes her dog to ocean beach they avoid the surf. >> pacific is a deceiving team. it's not peaceful at all. >> reporter: since 2008 the coast guard says seven people have died on the northern california coast trying to rescue their dogs from the water. in november a family of three died after a 16-year-old boy and his parents jumped in to save their pet. the dog survived, the family did not. on new year's day this year a man died after a sneaker wave carried away his wife and dog. on sunday a woman walking her dog at shelter cove was swept away by the surf. >> what would you do? >> i would probably go after him. i just love him so much. >> reporter: floatation device, extra air and years of training, it takes all of that to make a human better able to survive in the surf than this little gal. >> the dogs have that nice long back and their head above water. they'll paddle and keep themselv

spca had its second annual be mine adopt-a-thon. the potential pet parents had the chance to meet dogs and cats in need of loving homes. the spca teamed up with groups that specialize in finding homes for senior pets. >> a group of dog lovers is getting a reward after fining a dog stolen from a pet adoption event in san francisco, sew nor-over was stolen. yesterday the 12 week old puppy was spotted in dolores park. the people who had the dog took off when police arrived. >> a group of families come a judgment start on valentine's day by celebrating the gift of heart surgery. the children's hospital hosted the 13th annual congenital heart disease awareness party today. all of the youngsters have sifford from con general tall hart -- congenital hart defects. >> when you go through the process it's easy to feel alone and isolated, particularly with the success of these surgeries and therapies, this isn't going to be rare. >> having an event like this is an opportunity for the families to coat -- come together, to meet one another and learn there are many other families affectes as well. >

want to talk about some exciting news that happened you guys what great competition with the spca in san francisco leading up to the superbowl. >> yeah. so for fun for the superbowl we da competition with the humane society of silicone valley near san francisco and we wanted people to like and share our posts on facebook and put cute pictures on. we wanted to find homes for pets. so we had a competition and i am happy to say that we won. >> we won. that's great. >> we got more likes and shares and we got over 6,000 likes and shares. their group had almost 4,000 and that's great. so, to celebrate we are going to have adoption fees be 52 dollars in honor of ray lewis on sunday. so cats and dogs adult pets 52 dollars to celebrate the win. >> great job by you and we have about 30 seconds left so quickly with this storm coming, anything pet owners should know. >> keep pets inside. with the rain they can be disoriented with the sound and smell. it might remove a cent is to -- scent to get them back home. keep them safe inside and when they come in dry them off. >> are you opened this we
